TTO – Phan Xuân Hành cho biết em yêu thích môn toán, và ước mơ bước vào ngành sư phạm. Một lần không được vào đội tuyển bồi dưỡng thi học sinh giỏi toán cấp tỉnh, em chuyển sang học môn hóa và đã thành công trên cả mong đợi.
Phan Xuân Hành (lớp 12 hóa, Trường THPT chuyên Hà Tĩnh) là học sinh đầu tiên ở tỉnh Hà Tĩnh giành huy chương vàng Olympic hóa học quốc tế.
Khi Hành lên lớp 2, bố mẹ phải gửi hai anh em cho ông bà nội để đi mưu sinh xa nhà. Lớn thêm chút nữa, em vào học tại Trường THCS Hải Thượng Lãn Ông cách nhà hơn 10km. Quãng đường dù không gần nhưng suốt mấy năm học tại đây em vẫn đến lớp đều đặn. Hành yêu thích môn toán, học khá tốt môn học này và có ước mơ trở làm thầy giáo dạy toán.
Song, đến năm lớp 8, khi em không được nhà trường gọi vào đội tuyển bồi dưỡng thi học sinh giỏi toán cấp tỉnh. Hành chuyển sang học hóa và kết quả của ngày hôm nay thực sự ngoài cả mong đợi.
Năm 2019, em xuất sắc trở thành thủ khoa đầu vào lớp 10 chuyên hóa của Trường THPT chuyên Hà Tĩnh. Theo học tại ngôi trường cách nhà gần 90km, em chuyển vào ở hẳn trong ký túc xá của nhà trường, một tháng vài lần trở về nhà thăm gia đình.
Học xa nhà với nhiều thiếu thốn, khó khăn, bù lại em luôn nhận được sự quan tâm động viên của gia đình, thầy cô, bạn bè. Suốt 3 năm học em luôn giành nhiều thành tích cao trong các cuộc thi ở địa phương cũng như quốc gia.
Nói về gia đình, Hành cho biết bố mẹ em làm nông nghiệp ở xã Sơn Lâm, huyện miền núi Hương Sơn, chủ yếu trồng lúa, ngô và chăn nuôi thêm một số gia cầm. Nghề nông chỉ đủ ăn, chi tiêu trong gia đình không mấy dư giả.
Mấy năm Hành theo học tại Trường THPT chuyên Hà Tĩnh, ngoài việc bố mẹ trợ cấp tiền ăn học, em còn nhận được sự giúp đỡ từ người thân. Ý thức được sự vất vả của gia đình nên em luôn chi tiêu một cách hợp lý.
Trong suốt 3 năm học phổ thông, Hành đã giành được nhiều thành tích đáng nể. Em giành giải ba học sinh giỏi quốc gia môn hóa năm lớp 11; giải nhất học sinh giỏi quốc gia môn hóa lớp 12 và đặc biệt là giành HCV Olympic hóa học quốc tế năm 2022.
Hiện tại, Hành chưa quyết định theo học ngành, trường nào. Hành nói rằng có nhiều phương án để em lựa chọn, có thể theo ngành sư phạm, ngành y và cả con đường du học.
UBND tỉnh Hà Tĩnh đã tổ chức gặp mặt chúc mừng Phan Xuân Hành. Bí thư Tỉnh ủy Hà Tĩnh Hoàng Trung Dũng nhìn nhận thành tích mà em đạt được là niềm vinh dự chung của tỉnh, thắp sáng thêm truyền thống hiếu học của quê hương; khơi dậy động lực để mỗi học sinh trong toàn tỉnh vươn lên. Ông cũng đánh giá cao tài năng, tâm huyết, sự tận tâm của các thầy cô giáo Trường THPT chuyên Hà Tĩnh.
